NPT connections

NPT stands for National Pipe Thread which happens to be most popular kind of thread for the pressure system. It is very important to know about NPT in regard to knowing about difference between NPT and BSP out there.  Male fittings of NPT have taper thread which wedges into female NPT fittings. In this arrangement if you happen to connect stainless steel to stainless steel, in that case over-tightening may damage the threads. In such scenario, thread sealant may be required for sealing.

BSP connections

British Standard Parallel or BSP is mainly popular in countries like India, Europe, UK, New Zealand, Australia etc. This parallel thread fitting is to use bonded seal ring for the sealing. This specific ring seal is to be sandwiched in-between shoulder on make fitting and face of female fittings.

In regard to Tech Tubes & Fittings, you must know that the BSP pressure gauge is to have longer male thread. A copper crush washer is used which is squeezed in between bottom of female and bottom and bottom of male fitting. In this arrangement, it is there to form a pressure tight seal. Not to mention, a thread sealant is not required for forming a seal in this regard.
